I have been working with young people since I was sixteen years old when I began teaching children in a summer program. That is when I knew that I had a heart for young people, and I wanted to make a difference. I began teaching right out of college and became involved in numerous youth organizations. I trained adults to work with youth as well as training teens to work with children and other teens. I was introduced to 4-H. As an educator I was impressed with the research based programs that were fun and educational as well. I began to volunteer, and I soon realized that 4-H could make a real difference in the lives of young people. After three years as a volunteer, I became a part of the Cooperative Extension Staff as I directed the 4-H program in Taylor County, Georgia , and Albemarle/Charlottesville, Virginia. During that time I saw numerous young people’s lives changed by a program that takes what young people learn in the classroom, in 4-H projects, events, and just in life and puts it into action - Learning by Doing! I am excited about working with the volunteers of Campbell County 4-H. Volunteers are the key to a successful 4-H program “With a lot of people doing a little, AMAZING things can be accomplished!” I am looking forward to AMAZING things!
